Perfectionism is the habit or belief of not being satisfied with anything unless it is completely perfect. A person with perfectionism keeps finding tiny faults and finds it hard to say this is good enough. In school and in psychology talk, it can look like high standards, but it often makes people slow, anxious, or unable to finish. Though actually, people use it loosely: someone who just likes things tidy may joke that's my perfectionism, even when they are only being careful. The word names the tendency, not the person — the person is a perfectionist.
