正式To perceive something is to become aware of it, usually through your senses (sight, hearing, and so on) or through careful thought — noticing something that isn't always obvious to everyone. It's also used for how you understand or judge something: if you perceive a situation as unfair, that's how it appears or feels to you, whether or not everyone else agrees. This second sense is common in phrases like 'perceived risk' or 'how customers perceive our brand' — meaning their opinion or impression, not necessarily the plain facts.
