Paralysis is when a part of your body — or your whole body — loses the ability to move, often because of damage to the nerves or spine. Doctors use it for this physical meaning, but people also use it for a situation where nothing can move forward, like being too scared or confused to decide anything — 'analysis paralysis' is a well-known phrase for thinking about a decision so much that you never actually make it.
