Nudity is the state of not wearing any clothes. It names the condition, not a club and not a belief. A painting can show nudity; a film can have a scene with nudity; a person out of the shower is in a state of nudity for a moment. News, law, and school rules like this word because it is cooler and more official than nakedness. Though actually, naked often feels more sudden and human, while nudity can sound like a heading in a report. The word does not, by itself, tell you whether the scene is art, medicine, or meant to shock — people argue about that with extra words.
