Near the place where you are, or near the place you are talking about. It is used in front of a noun such as a country, town, village, area, house, or room.

neighbouring 說的是「就在旁邊、離這裡很近」的地方，可以想成從 neighbour（鄰居）長出來：本來講「住隔壁的人」，後來也用來講「挨在旁邊的城鎮、國家、島、房間」。它只放在名詞前面，例如 a neighbouring town（鄰近的城鎮）。跟 nearby 比，nearby 可以單獨放在句尾（He sat nearby），neighbouring 一定要抓著一個名詞一起走。
