Both the verb (go up, get on, set up) and the noun 'mount' (a hill, Mount X) come from Latin 'mons / montem' meaning mountain; the verb sense 'climb up' arose via the idea of going up the mountain. So 'climb / go up' and 'mountain' are one root, not two unrelated homographs.
