Picture two fixed points on a timeline — now and the thing you are waiting for — and the stretch of time lying between them. Meantime points at that stretch: what happens, or what you do, while the real event has not arrived yet.
可以想成：時間線上有兩個固定的點——現在，以及你在等的那件事——中間夾著一段時間。meantime 指的就是那一段：正事還沒到之前，這中間發生了什麼、你先做什麼。
