    「meant」就是動詞 mean 的過去式和過去分詞，唸法跟 mean 不同，是短短的 /ment/，不是 /miːnt/。它一樣有三個方向：表示某個意思（The red light meant stop）、想表達的意思（I meant to say sorry 我本來想說的是抱歉）、本來打算做某事（I meant to call you 我本來想打給你）。be meant to 還可以表示「應該」或「本來是要…的」。
