A kidney is one of two small body parts inside your back, under your ribs. Your body has two of them. Their job is to clean your blood and make waste water, which leaves your body as urine (pee). People also say 'kidney' for a bean shape, like 'kidney beans,' because the bean looks like the shape of this body part.
