    One of the two organs inside your chest that you breathe with. Air goes into your lungs when you breathe in, and out again when you breathe out.

    「lung」就是中文的「肺」，人的胸腔裡左右各一個。英文最常用複數 lungs 講整組（healthy lungs、fill your lungs），要單指其中一邊時才用單數 a lung；中文一個「肺」字就包含兩邊，這是最容易忘記的地方。肺的畫面可以想成「胸口裡一個會脹大的軟袋子」——吸氣時空氣灌進去把它撐開，吐氣時再放掉，所以英文才會說 fill your lungs（把肺填滿）、lung capacity（這個袋子裝得下多少，也就是肺活量）。

Picture the pair of soft, sponge-like bags sitting inside your chest, on either side of your heart. They fill up when you breathe in and empty when you breathe out — that rising and falling of the chest is the lungs at work. The word names the organ itself, one of the two.

可以想成胸腔裡左右各一個像海綿一樣的軟袋子：吸氣時脹起來，吐氣時又扁下去，胸口的一起一伏就是它們在工作。lung 指的就是這個器官本身，而且是「一個」——所以講兩邊的時候要用複數 lungs。
