An honorific is a word or title you add to show respect for the person you are speaking to or speaking about — Mr, Dr, Sir, Professor, and in Chinese, Japanese, or Korean a much richer set of respectful forms. As an adjective, honorific describes that kind of language: an honorific title. Though actually, English has far fewer honorifics than Japanese, Korean, or Chinese. A plain please is just polite, not an honorific. And honorary is a different word: an honorary degree is an honour you are given, not a way of addressing someone.
