  1. 1冰雹（一顆；中文常統稱「冰雹」，英文才分開 hail / hailstone）

    A hailstone is one small hard ball of ice that falls from the sky. Rain is water. Snow is soft. A hailstone is frozen and can sting if it hits you. Most are as small as a pea; in a bad storm they can be much bigger, though that is rare. We meet the word in weather talk: hailstones bounced off the car, rattled on the roof. Hail is the frozen rain as a whole; each ball is a hailstone.
