    「had」是動詞 have 的過去式和過去分詞，有兩個主要用法：一是表示「過去擁有某物」（I had a dog = 我以前有一隻狗）；二是構成過去完成式（had + 過去分詞），表示「在過去某個時間點之前就已完成的事」（She had finished her homework before dinner = 她在晚餐前已經做完作業了）。

Had is 'have' moved into the past — it covers both 'possessed / experienced something earlier' (I had a car, we had a great time) and the that builds the past perfect (by the time I arrived, they had left), pinning one past event as finished before another. Picture reaching back in time to say what you held, felt, or had already done before some later moment.

可以想成 had 就是 have 移到過去——它一邊管「以前擁有、經歷過什麼」（I had a car 我以前有輛車、we had a great time 我們那時玩得很開心），一邊當助動詞搭出過去完成式（by the time I arrived, they had left 我到的時候他們早走了），把一個過去的事件釘成「比另一件更早就完成」。畫面比較像你回頭伸手到過去，講出那時擁有什麼、感覺到什麼，或在某個更晚的時刻之前就已經做完了什麼。
