Think of a ruler with a sliding marker on it. On most plans and models the marker is pulled back, so the thing gets smaller to fit on a table. Full-scale is the marker pushed all the way out: nothing is shrunk. First that is literal — the model is as big as the real boat. Then the same picture covers actions: the search, the test, the review is run at its largest possible size, with nothing trimmed to save effort.
可以想成一把比例尺上有個滑標。大部分的圖和模型，滑標是往回拉的，東西縮小了才放得上桌子。full-scale 就是滑標推到底：什麼都沒有縮。最直接的一面是尺寸——模型跟真船一樣大，圖鋪上去就能照著裁。同一個畫面往外走一步，就用來講事情的規模：搜索、測試、檢討全部照最大的樣子做，沒有為了省事而縮水。
