Picture a face a few seconds after something has happened to it — blood has risen under the skin and the colour has come up. You can see it from across the room, and it will fade again in a few minutes. Both uses of flushed keep that picture: something rose, it is showing, and it will not last long. The only question is whether the word is pointing at the colour or at the mood that lit it.
可以想成一張臉在某件事發生後幾秒鐘的樣子：血湧到皮膚底下，顏色浮上來了。隔一段距離都看得到，而過幾分鐘又會退掉。flushed 的兩個用法都保留這個畫面：有東西湧上來、正在顯示、而且不會維持太久。差別只在這個字指的是那個顏色，還是把臉點亮的那股心情。
