A way to picture it: an ending is the last stretch of something — not just the moment it stops, but the closing part you actually go through. A film's ending is the final scenes, the part that decides how you walk out of the cinema. From there the word can shrink down to the exact point where something stops, or shift to the tail of a word, the few letters sitting at its far end.

可以想成：ending 是一件事情「最後那一段」——不只是停下來的那一瞬間，而是你真的走過的收尾部分。一部電影的 ending 是最後那幾場戲，是決定你帶著什麼心情走出戲院的那一段。從這個畫面往兩邊延伸：往時間上收緊，就變成某件事停止的那個點；往形式上移動，就變成一個字最尾巴的那幾個字母。
