  1. 1移民出國的人（台灣口語常只說「移民」，不區分出去或進來）

    An emigrant is a person who leaves their own country to go and live in another. The view is from the country they leave: they are going out. The same person, seen from the new country, is an immigrant — someone coming in. The word is a little more formal than just saying “someone who moved abroad,” but you will meet it in news and in history. Though actually, in everyday Chinese we often say 移民 for both directions, so English makes a split that your ear may not be used to.
