A person or company that supplies goods to the shops and businesses that sell them.

You can picture a distributor as whatever sits at the branching point: one supply comes in from a single source, and the distributor is the thing that splits it and sends a portion out to each of the many places waiting for it. The word does not say what is being sent — goods, electricity, anything — only that one stream becomes many.
可以想成 distributor 站在一個「分岔口」上：東西從一個來源進來，到了它這裡就被分成好幾份，再一份一份送到後面各個等著的地方。這個字本身不在乎送的是什麼，重點在那個角色——把一條進來的東西，變成很多條出去的。
