    determiner 是文法課給一群小字的名字：放在名詞前面，說明講的是「哪一個」——the car 的 the、some cars 的 some，還有 a、my、this、every。可以想成它跟動詞 determine（把事情定下來）是同一家人：名詞說「是什麼」，前面那個小字幫你定下「是哪一個、是誰的、有多少」。跟形容詞最容易搞混：形容詞說東西「長什麼樣」（a red car），determiner 說「是哪一台」（the car），而且形容詞拿掉還成句，determiner 常常不能省。
