A cursory reading means your eyes ran over the page, but you did not really study it. People use this word more in writing and in slightly careful, grown-up talk than in everyday chat. When someone calls a check cursory, they are often a little unhappy: they wanted more care. It is not a word for being angry, and it has nothing to do with a computer cursor, even though the two look close.
