喜樂美語

A label you attach to something to say where it belongs: it comes from Britain. Stick it on a passport, a accent, a car, a habit — the word does not describe what the thing is like, only which place it is tied to.

可以想成一張「產地／歸屬」的標籤，貼上去就是說：這個東西屬於 Britain。護照、口音、汽車、習慣，貼上這張標籤都成立。它本身不描述東西「長什麼樣」，只交代它跟哪個地方綁在一起——所以 British food、British law、British tourists 差異這麼大，卻都合理。
