Think of a small written slip. Someone in charge your name and an address on it and hands it to you. Everything in this group hangs off that slip: the house the paper sends you to, the act of sending you there, and the space on a list that is being kept for you. The point is never where you would like to be. It is where you have been written down.

From Middle French billette, a small schedule or docket, a diminutive of bulle, a document (Medieval Latin bulla). The word began as the piece of paper, and the place named on the paper took the name over.
來自中世紀法文 billette（小單子、名冊），是 bulle（文件；拉丁文 bulla）的小稱。這個字一開始指的就是那張公文，後來單子上寫著的那個地點，反過來把名字接收了過去。
