You can picture audio as the 'hearing side' of things — anything that reaches you through your ears rather than your eyes. The Latin root means 'to hear', so audio is simply the sound channel: what you listen to, split off from what you watch.
可以想成 audio 就是事物的「聽覺那一面」——所有經由耳朵、而不是眼睛傳進來的東西。它的拉丁字根就是「聽」，所以 audio 講的其實是「聲音這條線路」：你用聽的那部分，和你用看的那部分分開來。

From the word-forming element audio-, from Latin audire 'to hear' (PIE root *au- 'to perceive'); it broke off as a standalone word around 1934 with new sound technology. The 'hearing' root is exactly the modern core.
源自構詞元素 audio-，來自拉丁文 audire「聽、聽見」（PIE 字根 *au-「感知」）；約 1934 年隨著錄音／廣播技術興起，才從前綴獨立成一個字。「聽」這個字根，正好就是它今天的核心。
