You can picture someone sitting down with a person, a plan, or a house in front of them, looking it over carefully, and then putting a value on it — a score, a figure, or simply a considered opinion. Assessment covers both halves of that: the act of weighing something up, and the answer you end up with.
可以想成有人坐下來，把一個人、一份計畫或一棟房子擺在面前，仔細看過一遍，然後給出一個「值多少」的答案——可能是分數，可能是金額，也可能只是一句想過之後的判斷。assessment 這個字兩頭都管：既是「看過之後給出答案」這個動作，也是最後得出的那個答案本身。
