From Medieval Latin allocātiō, from allocāre — ad- 'to' + locāre 'to place', from locus 'place'. The literal sense is 'placing something to/at' — assigning it its spot.

來自中世紀拉丁文 allocāre：ad-（給、朝向）+ locāre（放置），字根 locus 就是「位置」，和 location、local 同源。字面意思是「把東西放到它該在的位置上」——現代 allocation 裡「劃給誰、劃給哪個用途」的味道，就是從這個「安放位置」的動作來的。
