Willful (also spelled 'wilful' in British English) describes someone who insists on doing what they want, even when told not to, or when it's clearly a bad idea — a stubborn, determined-to-have-their-own-way kind of behavior, often used for children ('a willful child'). It also has a more serious legal or formal meaning: done on purpose, knowing it's wrong — 'willful damage' or 'willful neglect' means someone did it deliberately, not by accident.
