Picture going from A to B, but the line between them doesn't run straight — it passes through some in-between point on the way. 'Via' marks that point you pass through: the road, stop, or means the journey runs along.

可以想成你要從 A 到 B，但兩點之間的路不是直直一條——它會經過中間某個點。via 標的就是「途中經過的那個點」：旅程沿著走的那條路、那一站、或那個媒介。

From the word’s history

Straight from Latin 'via' meaning 'road, way' (the ablative 'via' = 'by way of'). The English preposition keeps that picture exactly: 'by way of' some point.

直接借自拉丁文 via，意思就是「路、道路」（奪格 via 即「取道於」）。英文這個介系詞原封不動地保留了這個畫面：「取道、經由」某一點。
