Not argued about by anyone. An uncontested statement, decision or legal case is one that nobody stands up against, so it goes through without a fight.

Picture something set down in the middle of a room — a statement, a claim, a seat on a committee. The rule is that anyone who wants to fight for it, or fight against it, must stand up now. The time passes and nobody stands up. Nothing has been won and nothing has been argued; it simply stays where it is. That silence, not agreement, is what uncontested names.

The source in this packet gives the make-up simply as un- plus contested. Contest is the standing up to fight or argue; un- removes it, and the picture is what is left.
