You can picture throughout as 'through + out' — something filling every corner with no gap left: it reaches all the way through and spreads out to every part. Whether the thing being filled is a space or a stretch of time, the picture is the same: full coverage, nothing missed.

可以想成 through（穿過）＋ out（到底、到處）：一樣東西把每個角落都填滿、不留空隙，從頭穿到尾、擴散到每一處。不管被填滿的是一塊空間還是一段時間，畫面都一樣：全面覆蓋、一處不漏。throughout 的兩個用法，差別只在填的是「空間」還是「時間」。
