A short piece of writing that you send from a mobile phone and that the other person reads on their screen. Older devices called pagers could receive them too.
簡訊
You can picture a few typed words leaving one phone and appearing on the screen of another. The words are short, they are written rather than spoken, and they arrive one at a time — each one a separate little block that can be counted, saved or answered. The word names that block; the verb names the act of pushing one across.
可以想成打好的幾個字，從一支手機跳到另一支手機的螢幕上。它很短，是寫出來的，不是講出來的。而且它是一則一則到的，每一則都是一個可以數、可以留著、可以回的小方塊。名詞說的是那個小方塊，動詞說的是「把它推過去」這個動作。
