    正式To testify means to say something out loud in a place like a court, saying that it is true. Usually you do this because you saw something happen, or you know something important, and someone in power (like a judge) needs to hear it. People also use it in a softer way outside of court — 'I can testify to how hard she works' means 'I can say, from what I've seen, that this is true.'
