誘惑；忍不住想做的念頭
Picture a pull you feel towards something you have already decided not to do: the cake is right there, you said you would not, and part of you is still leaning towards it. Temptation is that pull — the wanting that happens while you know better.
「明知道不該，還是被拉過去的那股力」。蛋糕就放在桌上，你早上才說今天不吃；你並沒有忘記，那個「不該」還在，可是身體已經往前傾了。temptation 就是這股拉力。它的關鍵在於裡面同時有兩件事：想要，而且知道不該想要。少了後面那一半就不叫 temptation，只是單純的 want。所以這個字天生帶著一點內心拉扯的味道，也因此常出現在減肥、省錢、戒菸、還有道德選擇的場合。
