Synthesis means combining separate parts, ideas, or substances to make something new and whole. In chemistry, 'synthesis' means making a new chemical substance by combining simpler ones. In writing or thinking, a 'synthesis' means bringing together different ideas or pieces of information into one clear, combined understanding, like an essay that combines several sources into one argument.
