Picture the bag inside you where food lands and starts to break down. Everything else grows out of that one organ. English treats the stomach as the part of you that reacts first to anything hard to take — nasty sights, tasks — so "can your stomach handle it?" becomes a way of asking whether you can bear something at all.

可以想成：身體裡那個接住食物、開始把它分解的袋子。其他所有用法都從這一個器官長出來。英文把胃當成「最先有反應的那個部位」——看到噁心的畫面、面對讓人發怵的事，胃都先翻攪一下。於是「你的胃受不受得了」就成了問「你承不承受得住」的說法，動詞的用法正是從這裡來的。
