Sponsorship is support — usually money, but sometimes equipment or services — that a company or person gives to an event, team, TV show, or individual, often in return for advertising or having their name attached to it. A sports team might have sponsorship from a shoe brand, whose logo then appears on the players' shirts. It can also mean the more general act of officially supporting or backing someone, like a visa sponsorship, where a company agrees to take responsibility for a foreign worker.
