Socialization is the process of learning how to behave, talk, and get along with other people in your society — you pick this up from family, friends, school, and culture starting in childhood. It includes things like manners, sharing, and knowing what counts as normal behavior. The word is also used for pets: 'socializing' a puppy means getting it used to being around people and other animals so it isn't scared or aggressive later.
