    snore 只用在「睡著的時候」發出的呼吸聲，中文就是打呼、打鼾。這個字可以想成就是那個聲音本身變成的動詞——英文從 1300 年代就照著那個聲音造出這個字，所以它不需要再說「發出聲音」，snore 裡面已經有聲音了。它是不及物動詞，後面不接受詞：說 He snores 就完整了。最容易混的是 snort：snort 是醒著的時候從鼻子噴出一聲（好笑或不耐煩時），snore 一定是在睡覺。
