You can think of shouting as sound arriving before meaning. From the next room or across a street you hear that voices are loud, long before you can make out a single word. That is the whole picture: volume you can hear, content you cannot yet reach.
可以想成「聲音先到，內容還沒到」。隔壁房間傳來的、對街傳來的，你先聽到的是「有人很大聲」。至於他們在講什麼，要再靠近一點才聽得出來。shouting 抓的就是這一層：音量你聽得到，內容你還沒聽清楚。也因為這樣，它不是某一聲，而是一整片持續的聲音。
