Scrubland is country covered with low, woody bushes, not tall trees and not only grass. The bushes are often tough, and the ground is often dry or poor. Walkers and geography books use the word; in everyday speech people may just say scrub, or bush. You will hear it a lot about dry places — parts of Australia, the Mediterranean, and similar land. It names a kind of wild country, not a farm and not a forest.
