You can picture a round trip as a loop drawn on a map. The line leaves your door, reaches some far point, and curves back to the same door. The loop says nothing about how far, how long, or by what vehicle. It only says that the end is the beginning — which is why everything you measure about it, distance or time, has to include both halves of the curve.
