One way to picture rob: someone else's money or things are taken away from them, usually by force or threat. Note who goes after the verb — in English you rob the person or the place (rob a bank, rob him), and what was taken comes after of. Most of the other uses of rob live inside fixed phrases rather than standing alone.

可以想成 rob 的畫面比較像「東西被從別人那裡拿走」，多半靠武力或威脅。要注意接在後面的是誰：英文是 rob 那個人或那個地方（rob a bank、rob him），被拿走的東西要放在 of 後面。除了這個字面用法，rob 其他的意思幾乎都住在固定說法裡，不能單獨拿出來用。
