Revelry is the wild, noisy fun itself — the dancing, eating, drinking, and shouting that go with a celebration. It is usually uncountable: you talk about revelry, not “a revelry.” The word sounds a little grand or old, so you meet it in stories, in the news after a big night, or in the set phrase drunken revelry. It is revel plus -ry, the same family as . Use it for the atmosphere and the activity, not for a single person.
