One way to hold this word: a cover slides aside and something that was hidden is now in plain sight. The most physical version is cloth — a dress that shows a shoulder or a back. The word describes the thing doing the uncovering, not the thing uncovered, which is why it sits in front of dress, answer, study, interview alike. Whatever follows it, ask the same question: what was covered a moment ago, and can you see it now?

Revealing is reveal plus -ing, recorded from Middle English. Reveal itself is about drawing a cover back, which is exactly the picture both modern senses use.
revealing 就是 reveal 加上 -ing，中古英文時期就有紀錄。reveal 本身講的是把蓋著的東西掀開，而這正好是今天兩個意思共用的同一個畫面——一個掀開的是布，一個掀開的是真相。
