Resilience is the ability to recover from something hard — a shock, a failure, an injury, bad news — and go back to being okay, or even come back stronger. You can talk about a person's resilience (how well they bounce back after a hard time), but also a material's resilience (how well it springs back into shape after being bent or pressed), or even a country's resilience after an economic crisis.
