Recklessness is the name for that way of acting — not caring, or refusing to care, about possible harm. Courts and news like the noun because they can point to it as a fact: the recklessness of the driver, recklessness with money. You can mean one dangerous act or a habit. It is a serious, rather formal word; in everyday talk people more often say someone was reckless than talk about their recklessness.
