Rancour is a bitter, lasting anger toward someone who harmed you, which you cannot quite forgive or put down. It is not a flash of temper; it sits in you. The word is rather formal and a little old-fashioned in easy speech; people may say bitterness, a grudge, or hard feelings instead. British spelling is rancour; American spelling is rancor. You will often see no rancour after a contest, meaning the two sides can still be civil. Though actually the feeling itself is not civil at all — it is the old wound staying warm.
