Picture someone setting out on a long, determined search for something hard to reach — a knight riding off after the Grail. A quest is that whole journey of seeking.

可以想成有人動身去做一場漫長又認真的尋找，目標往往難以企及——像騎士出發去尋找聖杯。quest 講的就是這整段「上路去找」的追尋。

From the word’s history

From Old French queste, from Medieval Latin questa 'search, inquiry', ultimately from Latin quaerere 'to seek, ask'. The word is seeking itself; the medieval sense of a knight's adventure gave it its long, heroic feel.

來自古法文 queste、中世紀拉丁文 questa（尋找、探問），最上頭是拉丁文 quaerere（尋找、探求）。字的核心比較像「找」，而中世紀騎士冒險的用法，替它添上了那股漫長、帶點英雄氣的味道。
