Pragmatically is how you do something when you deal with a problem in a sensible, real-world way instead of following a set of ideas. You pick the path that will work here and now, even if it is not the most beautiful or the most “correct” on paper. Same grown-up tone as pragmatic: you hear it in news, meetings, and school essays more than in chat with friends. Though actually, in everyday talk many people just say “in a practical way” and never use this long adverb at all — which is fine. Save it for when you want to stress that someone is not being driven by theory or by a dream.
