Pornographic describes something — a film, a photo, a magazine, a website — that shows sex in a way meant to make people feel sexually . It is an adjective: a pornographic film, pornographic pictures. In everyday talk many people just say porn. Schools, news, and the law prefer the longer word. Though actually, people argue about the line: some art shows naked bodies without being called pornographic. The word is usually kept for material whose main job is sexual excitement, not story, news, or beauty. It is a formal, adult adjective; be careful where you use it.
