You can picture perform as carrying a task all the way through to its finish — not just starting it, but seeing the whole action completed, every step done. Whether it is a difficult job, a stage act, or a machine running, the same idea sits underneath: take the action from beginning to end and bring it off.

From Old French parfournir, par- (thoroughly) + fournir (to complete, provide) — literally 'to carry through completely'. That sense of carrying an action fully through still underlies the modern core.

源自古法語 parfournir，par-（徹底地）＋ fournir（完成、提供），字面就是「徹底地完成、把事情走完」。這種「把動作完整貫徹到底」的味道，正好就是現代核心畫面的來源。
